Survey/advice has anyone ever replaced the dreaded leaking recirculate actuator 200

I've got the dreaded leaking recirculate vacuum actuator on one of my 240's. Has anyone ever repaired this crazy thing? Currently I have the dash removed and changed the blower motor as PM. I just can't seem to get the motivation to go after the vacuum actuator buried deep within the heater box. I found out a tennis ball works good as a prop to keep the flap in the fresh air position. My choices are to fix it, leave it alone and use a tennis ball to open the flap or to install a cable to control the opening and closing.
