Switching to DOT 5 with old Master Cylinder 200

Hi Gang, I've got the new caliper seals and all the hoses to go into my 1988 240. I've made the garden sprayer brake bleeder. My plan is to switch to silicone DOT 5, and not change the M/C. Can I blow out the brake lines before tear down and remove sufficent enough old brake fluid? I'd rather put the C note in other parts than buy a new M/C. I've read alot here and believe this would work, if not what would you think might happen? Thanks, Keith P.
