Quick question about red alternator wire 200 1986

I'm getting my new replacement battery today and will install a new voltage regulator in the alternator and was wondering if the red wire that comes off of the alternator into the wiring harness, does that go to the positive side of the battery? Should I just route another one in its place to ensure a solid wire/contact?
