780 front speaker cut out 700

Hey all!

I'm reworking the sound system in my 1991 780 and here is the situation:

Kenwood head unit (KRC-X858)
Polk 5 1/4 component system in the front Infinity Kappa series 6x9 three way in rear
Factory amplifiers (HD3141 in front; HD5161 in rear)

Here is the issue: when I crank it up, at a certain decibel lever, the front speakers cut out. I talked to Crutchfield and they said the front amp is underpowered.

Can anyone here either confirm or refute this? Do you have other ideas?

Thanks in advance!
Patrick
