Brake pad anti-rattle shims 700 1987

Hi folks,

After successfully getting my pads in and getting that mysterious bit of air out of the system, I bedded in the new pads as prescribed on the Board. Now she's coolin' in the driveway.

One thing that worries me, however, is that I had to toss my shims. They had been ground up by the hub as they came loose, and were all rusted too. They were in no condition to be used again.

On the gravel drive up to my house, the pads rattle terribly. Is this safe? I have some shims on order (OEM), but should I be concerned about driving for a week or two without shims?

Thanks!

Ari
