Mounting the ECU 120-130 1967

I've been able to finish the wiring, pedal, and throttle hookups. I punched out the the two holes in the passenger-side firewall and brought the wiring harness into the passenger side. Since this D-Jet is from an 1800E, the cable is *way* too short to put the ECU under the seats. It is just long enough to stick it up under the dash (if you don't have a radio).

I saved the 1800E's original ECU holding plate. It's a large black triangular plate with feet that holds the ECU up at an angle under the 1800E's dash. The 1800E's AC unit bolts to this plate as well.

This plate will not fit well in the 122's dash space - the battery box is a big problem and I do want to put a radio back in the car. The only space left is for me to mount the ECU to the passenger's front firewall. I think I can modify the holding plate to hold the ECU vertically up against the front firewall.

I'm slightly concerned about the heat and vibration up there.

I'm a little worried that the ECU will get too much physical shock and heat from the firewall and that the large battery box might keep the heat from dissipating from the ECU's heatsink.

So far, I've just stuck the ECU flat against the firewall under the battery with the heatsink pointing up. This puts it behind the 1800E floor carpet (which fits rather well) and hides the top of the ECU and heatsink behind the parcel shelf. There's a lot of space back there (I removed the big-magnet speaker from the shelf a while ago) but the sink is *right* under the battery box.

If nobody sees any concerns with this setup, I'm going to try and mount it here permanently. I'm thinking some foam rubber padding around the ECU will prevent shock, but I still worry a bit about the heat build-up.

Any thoughts here? I do have a spare ECU, but I'd rather not wreck mine yet.
