comments on the 240? 200

We're a little biased.

But my father and I both believe the 240 to be the finest car we have ever driven. They are very easy and cheap to work on; they are built like tanks; and they are build like a European sports car - I'm not kidding.

"Like" is the important qualifier there, because while a lot of the suspension geometry and design is similar to high-dollar Euro sports cars, Volvo used softer shocks/struts, softer springs, thinner sway bars, etc. All this in an effort to make a smooth, comfortable ride (I assume). BUT, there are some simple bolt-on parts out there that can turn your bobbling, mushy 240 into a very controlled and sporty ride in a weekend.

A 240 was my first car. It will probably be my last as well, because I intend to have at least one until I die.
