Engine running problem on Old 740 200

Hiya,

I posted this on the 700 forum and ‘Uncle Olaf’ suggested I try the 200 Forum due to the age of the vehicle.

I have a 1988 Volvo 740 GLE which has been running fine untill last week. The engine is a 1988 Petrol 2300cc Bosch K Jetronic Fuel Injection model.

Now when I start up it runs very rough, will not rev up at all, rev counter hovers around 3000 RPM (though no way is the engine reving to this) and only runs better when running out of Petrol.

Have Checked fuel pressure, ignition timming, cam belt, air leaks, electrical connections, fuel meter unit + relief valve cleaned, it seems to be getting to much fuel, as I have mentioned it only seems to run better when runnig out of fuel.

Is there anybody out there who can help me?

Kind regards

740 Brickowner
