89 240 misfire/hesitation 200 1989

Hi all,
Well the old girl is sick. Yesterday after driving 40 minutes to and appointment in the rain, the car sat for 30 min and started normally. As soon as I started accelerating, hesitation and misfire. Would accellerate very slowly and be OK after up to speed. Stop for a light, slow accel again until up to speed. By the time I had run it for about 15 minutes,it ran fine all the way home. This morning when cold started and ran normally. After being at the ofice 30 minutes and going to an outside meeting, hesitation again. After the 1:15 long meeting still hestation. It did stall out completely once this morning on the way back from the meeting. It would pull normally intermitantly while accelerating several times yesterday, like an electrical issue. It would also "pop" in the engine when i floored the gas pedal in order eek out some more speed. It seemed to accelerate a little better when I woud feather the gas pedal. I seached the archives and didn't find anything that fit this. The car has been running great, I got 25+ mpg this past weekend on a 700 mile round trip. Probably the best she has ever got for me. Could this be a fuel issue?

Any ideas?

thanks,
Palmer
