After plumbing up my return line and fuel pump, I tried to give starting the car a go.
I've not set my ignition to the base settings yet, but I'm really just trying to confirm the fuel is moving around before I worry about the car truly firing up. I still need to put in a new manifold gasket and oil switch. Owing to my great geographic distance from IPD, that won't be until Friday.
I cranked the engine for an extended period but there does not appear to be any fuel moving around. I pulled the supply-side of the FI hose and could smell no fuel at all in the hose or pipe. I also pulled #1 spark and found no fresh fuel on it.
I suspect that the pump is not receiving power while cranking. I lifted the rear and re-checked all the hose fittings and routing to/from the pump. All is proper there, no crossed connections.
I can hear the pump switch on and a suction sound from the rear when I switch to KPII, but I'm not sure if there's anything happening at the pump while I'm cranking. I don't have sufficient manpower/resources to put someone under there testing the voltage while I crank.
Re-checking the wiring diagram it tells me that the pump relay terminal 87 powers the pump (wired as such) and both the cold start and pump relay itself (terminals 30/51) receives power from Fuse #5 on an 1800E. Before I hooked up the pump wiring, I could hear a click from the relays when I'd switch to KPII.
Obviously there's no fuse #5 on an amazon. I hooked the power to my equivalent of Amazon Fuse #2. On the 1800E wiring diagram, Fuse #5 appears to receive power from both starter terminal 15 *and* the positive terminal of the ignition coil.
I'm not sure if power is pulled from fuse #2 during crank on an amazon. My voltimeter is busted and its dark outside now...
1800E Fuse #5 powers both the fuel pump relay and the rear defrost relay. The other systems that are also powered from the ignition switch and coil include the hazards, brake warning light, overdrive relay, and the reverse light relay.
Does it sound like I have the power hooked up wrong for an amazon?
To the few people who have a D-jet Amazon, where have you hooked the pump relay to in lieu of Fuse #5??
