Hi Frank,

I did buy a complete set with the felt seals and all. I've contacted the vendor and he's not had this "problem" before either. Again, there is nothing wrong with the function of the hub or the bearings, it's just that the cotter pin hole isn't in the right location (posted pics in a new sub-thread).

As for the brake kits. This is a little bit of fun that I've been working on for a while. I blame Dale (volvo245gti) for getting me involved in all this. His car has a similar conversion, but with 1800 hubs and a custom hat and bracket arrangement. I wanted to do this conversion but with a broader selection of off the shelf parts. So my version of this conversion has an adapter bracket and that's it. It uses stock Wilwood hubs and aside from modifying the dust shield is a complete bolt on affair.

The disks are vented and 11.75" vs the solid 10" stock arrangement and the FSL-4 caliper has a lot more pad area as well. At some point in the very near future Dale will be offering these for sale through his company (www.avalancheperformance.com). You can't run stock wheels as the caliper is too large, thus the spacer to allow you to run whatever wheel you desire on the car (my choice has a FWD offset which the spacer corrects to put the wheel centre back in line with the hub.

In the end, it should stop on a dime and give you a nickel change. Not a cheap conversion, but I've had the odd situation where the stock brakes are a little too vintage for my likes. Yes, totally unnecessary - but it sure is fun.

Craig
