M-46 relay: Someone please explain it to me. 200

You should be able to figure out what is what from the following:

Wire colors for 81 on 240 series Laycock OD relay system socket.

RELAY:
15-double blue, one wire from fuse, the other to the shifter switch
31-black to chassis ground
86-brown, from shifter switch
87-double yellow, relay out to solenoid and dash light
85-red, relay to 4th gear switch on tranny for relay coil ground

On right side of tunnel under carpet:
(yellow & red go thru BLUE connector, then to 4th gear switch and solenoid)
(brown & one blue go thru BLACK connector to shifter switch)

OD SWITCH:
blue from relay 15
brown to relay 86

SOLENOID:
yellow from relay 87
yellow to under rear case bolt.

4th GEAR SWITCH:
red from relay 85

DASH LIGHT:
yellow from relay 87
