Electrical interference, voltage regulator problem? 200 1980

The car is a 1980 245DL with B21F, this started with a change in the main fuel pump sound when the turn signal is on - the pump noise changes tone in time with the turn signal. Now if I have the radio on and switch on the turn signal, the radio alternates to static in time with the turn signal. If I step on the brake pedal with the radio on, the radio goes to static. The instrument cluster lights are changing in brightness but not in conjunction with the turn signal. Looking for ideas where to start checking things, could this be voltage regulator issue? The car was converted form external VR to one integrated with the alternator.
