740 Regina hesitating 700

Good evening everybody.
The car is a 90 (740) with regina and 190,000 miles. My daughter has been complaining that the car will hesitate when accelerating and will almost die.
To make a story short i nailed the problem down to a fuel pump relay getting hot, reflow the solder on the old one and replace it with a new one, but the problem persist, when the relay cools down the car will run fine, changed the fuel filter also but still the same and no codes by the way.
Could it be that the fuel pump is causing the relay to get hot?.I have no records for the car if the fuel pump has ever been changed,i bought it when it had 175,000 miles on it.
Thankyou so much in advance and God bless.

Charles.
