Starting gremlins in a 79 242 200

I'm trying to get my 79 242 moving so I can sell it but I am having trouble getting it started. Everything sounds good, it just does not catch.

Starter spins, fuel pump pumps (and does not appear to leak), and the coil is heating up. Just no go. I took plug 1 out and tried to start it without the plug in hopes of seeing spark, but the engine would not even try to start without the plug in. Funny thing is that as soon as I reinstalled the plug and tried to start it I got one good fire out of the engine before it went back to nothing.

The plugs are old. the wires are old. The gas is fresh, the oil is fresh, and the battery is fresh. I'm hoping y'all have a good trick for testing the coil and/or testing the plugs.

Thoughts on where to start?

Matt
