Improving mileage 700 1987

Hi folks,

My mileage has increased by about 6 mpg since I fixed my sticky brakes. :P

I'm still doing 20.5 mpg on a 740GLE, and I'm looking for ways to do more.

Here's what I've done:
Bougi plug wires (yesterday; replaced Bosch)
New battery (needed it anyway)
Adjusted kickdown cable

The oil change was done last month (by me), and the air filter is 6 months old. Throttle body and intake were cleaned about 5 months ago. Flame trap/breather box are new, and so are the belts and timing belt.

I noticed that when I started the car after installing the new wires, I blew some smoke (I consider this unusual) for a moment, and it smelled really burnt. I know it seems strange, but could I have had some buildup in the combustion chamber from weak/no spark, because of the Bosch wires?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

Ari
