940 radio cr-915 radio question - harness 900

I have a Cr-915 radio in a 95 940 and it has problems. Since I am interested in so-called HD radio I would just like to put in a new radio. On ebay I see that there are harness adapters that allow one to connect the new modern radio to the existing plugs that would be left behind when I remove the old radio. Anyone used this method? Or will the new radio come with what I need? Any tricks here? I'm just wondering whether I should go ahead and get the part from ebay so I'll be ready. Also, where might I get pinouts for the existing plugs or color codes for the wires? Also, do my wires run directly to my four speakers or do they run through an amp somewhere?
