1994 940 need to give it a little gas for first three seconds of start up,,, 900

I just bought the above mentioned car. The car has 162,000 miles. I drove it 170 miles home and it did quite well on the road. I found even just pulling in to get gas and then leaving, I would have to give it just a tad bit of gas to keep it from dyeing, but only for about three seconds, then it was fine. The check engine light and service light are on too. Just got home, so I have not had a whole lot of chace to look things over. There is some oil on the front of the engine, so I will be doing a timeing belt and front seals, and probably a full tune up too. However, their must be something causing the actal starting problem that I have.

Thanks and happy bricking
