A couple of, I hope, easy 960 questions... 900 1995

When you open the hood on a 960 there is a spring loaded switch located right next to the hood lock/release on the right-hand side (as you look under the hood) front on the core support. It has a rubber seal around the top of it and the plunger is black plastic. I thought it might be for an underhood light, but there is none on my car (maybe lost over the years?). Anyone have any idea what this switch does?

Second question is if I had the side marker lights harness out of a euro Volvo, would it be a direct plugin to a North American 960, and if so, where does it plugin? I know someone who has the original harness out of a euro, but they got it from someone else and does not know where it plugs in.

Thanks in advance guys...your knowledge and assistance is most appreciated.
