1990 760T engine vibration 700 1990

Folks, I have a 1990 760T wagon that does a couple things, not sure if they're even related... the engine idles smooth as silk, but vibrates or 'hammers' almost like it's firing at TDC as the rpms increase. Also, there seems to be a vibration that I can feel and hear in the body kind of like the engine vibrating against the frame due to a bad motor mount or exhaust is leaning up against the frame. However, the motor mounts are strong and I replaced the transmission mount and there's literally several inches of space around all exhaust pieces parts and yet it continues to sound and feel like the piece of junk that it is. Any ideas would be most appreciated.
