M46 manual transmission, for desiel engine ( D24) 200 1982

I'm getting two different "stories", and hope for a definitive answer:
M46 manual transmission ( with electric O/D) for desiel ( D24) engine : 1) same as for gas engine, or
2) different : has larger input shaft and pilot bearing.
anyone know for sure? any web address to check? (I have an 1982, 265, and the tranny is making a rumbling, bearing type noise, when under acceleration; quieter ( almost gone) in O/D; no noise in neutral or coasting. Can't find an M46 for desiel engine; probaly have to rebuild existing tranny - ouch!)
