Brake Failure Warning Switch 140-160

Not giving up on this yet! Decided to install a new master cylinder, and in preparation for doing so and attempting another brake bleed, I removed the brake failure warning light switch from the junction block.

The plastic piston on the switch is indeed fully extended (which I assume is blocking at least one brake circuit).

How do I get the piston to retract? Or is the switch now damaged and requires replacement?
