dead gas gauge 200

opinions please.

i just picked up a new member of the family. the po states he had the fuel pump replaced at a CT dealer this summer and immediately after the gas gauge stopped working.

it does not register any movement of any kind full ..empty or in between

i am inclined to think the sending unit was damaged but i have not started my 68 ohm resistor tests or even looked at it.

do you think i am correct in thinking the sending unit or wire out of it are proximate cause?
