Convince me not to wash my engine bay... 200 1986

It is a lot easier to set up several spools of wire and match the template of the old harness. You won't get all of the colors, but the important thing is to replace those dopey connector bodies. Volvo did it right on the latest ones, using a GM type with locking terminals. The European harnesses from pre-1988 are notorious with Mercedes, Porsche, and Volvo for the bio-degradable plastic that was used. I solder all of my terminal ends and joints instead of crimping so the job takes a good eight to ten hours. I also do not run the grounds back through the connectors, preferring to add equipment grounds to chassis at the ECU and in the engine compartment. Re-wiring is a good time to re-route the injector wiring above the intake manifold also, and make certain that everything else is outside of the runners; just in case you want to remove the intake quickly.

Regards,
