Engine turns over then locks up from too much fuel. 200 1989

This car is used winters and has only been started once since May. At first, when I attempted to start it today it idled briefly then stalled when I pressed the accelerator. Acting like it was starved for fuel, I let the fuel pump run for maybe 15 seconds. It turned over briefly almost starting then locked up. I pulled the spark plugs and turned the engine over, spewing an excessive amount of gas from the back cylinders onto the firewall. I installed new spark plugs, the car started up and revved up well for only a few seconds, again stalling out. I inadvertantly let the fuel pump run for only a few seconds and it locked up again when I turned it over. I repeated the procedure of turning the engine over without the plugs. It ran well afterwards for a few seconds but then stalled out again. I've replaced most of the ignition and sensors within the last few years. The car has 149K miles on it. My sense is that it's somewhere in the fuel system, but my backyard experience ended with carburators. Where do I begin with this?
