'88 b23 engine into a '91 240... Cold start problems now... PLZ help? =) Need ur magic words! 200

Hello folks, and thanks again!! This is MY FAVORITE FORUM by far. I hope to help someone here one day, instead of the other way around. =)

I recently bought a very clean 91 240 non turbo with a locked motor. Luckily, (I thought at the time) I have a great running motor from an '88!!

Well aside from the obvious things that were different, (crank sensor, knock sensor), the engine was installed by my mechanic and it's running great..... When it GETS started... He used the old mass air flow sensor on the new car.

anyHU... It needs 10 or so tries before it starts and runs... Any ideas what I could be missing? i could not change the jettronic computer box because it couldnt fit... Could the culprit be a bad or incorrect air flow sensor? Should I use the one that came with the '91 since the computer recognizes that one? Could a cold start problem be remedied with just a mass air flow sensor? By the way, the motor started up and ran GREAT when in the other car with no cold start issues... Thanks for your input!! By the way, I'd try to swap it and test it, but the car is in another city right now and the problem has been on my mind, eating away at me. I figured you guys could give me some some armament as knowledge to supply myself with for the trip back!

Cheers!!!!
Rod
