I had my car up on jacks for about 4 weeks messing with stuff under the hood (timing belt, seals, injectors, plugs, wires etc…) and finally got the whole thing back together and plopped the batter in and gave it a crank. I was relieved to have it start on the first try (beginners luck I guess)
I tinker with the interior, replace a speaker, top off the transmission fluid and lower the car. I get her all buttoned up and prepare to back it out for my brick’s glorious return to the roadways. Plop the battery back in and give it a crank. It just cranks and cranks and cranks. I proceeded to check the fuel pressure, the spark plugs, the FPR, every fuse and still nothing.
I decide that the timing must have gotten out of whack or that I didn’t tighten the timing belt tensioned. I take everything off and remove the timing belt, realign, and put it all back together. Give it a crank, still nothing.
At this point I decided that maybe…just maybe…if I tightened the bolts on the battery it would improve the electrical connection. So I grab my 10mm wrench and tighten the terminals.
Sure enough she started right up and we were on our way.
SO LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES!!! Do yourself a favor and tighten the terminals. It will save you about 6 hours of frustration.
I did go to Texas A&M and am living proof that Aggie jokes are real.
Cheers!
