Fuel Leak at Filler Tube 700 1990

Very slight leak between filler tube and gas tank. Easy to repair? Oil guy says it looks to be a quick snuggie with some channel locks. Is he full of it? How does this connect to the tank? I have not yet looked. He spotted it today and said that there is a lock nut on it that is probably a bit loose. Sounds a bit odd to me. What do you folks know about this connection point? (The leak is VERY small. I can smell fuel about once of twice a month at most. No drips at all.)
