ECT Sensor 900 1995

965, 173K, bought new. Vehicle hard to start, or not at all, when warm or hot, let cool, no problem. Electric fan runs regardless of engine temperature indication. When cool, vehicle starts rough, smoky, idle a little high, but quickly smoothes out, runs fine. Smells like too much fuel or choked. OBD gives me an ECT code, 1-2-3. I need to check ECT connection and resistance, but can't find the thing! Help!
