When you use the upholstery attachment on the Hoover the water isn't being heated the way it is when you use the machine on a floor. Hoovers implication that the machine creates actual "steam" a very generous characterization of the machine's actual ability.
I've done exactly what your asking about on my wagon a couple times in the last 3 years with no adverse effects.
What I have done though is to do it a time and place where you can leave the windows and hatch open for long enough to let it dry completely, I've always done it during warm, dry weather so the car can sit opened up in the sun for several hours.
