Cleaning carpeting in the back of a wagon 700 1991

Thanks for the opinions guys. Sadly, I kind of agree with Steve. If it does screw up the wood backing, then there is no way of fixing the damage. Especially because the wood is probably Finnish Birch plywood, which is hard to get in the US. To preserve the cargo area carpeting, it would be wise to be careful about overwetting it.

But, it is nice to know that the non-wood-backed cabin carpets come out for cleaning. I'll look to see if they will come out without removing the seats. That would be really great!

BTW, I know that a Hoover Steamvac does not really "steam," they don't even heat the water. But I use very hot water, and what I was proposing was to put the carpet/wood backing panels flat on the ground and use the main, upright Steamvac on them. It does blow hot air out the bottom to help clean and dry. Does a really great job in the house.
