Hood latch 700 1992

I've noticed my hood isn't held down on the passenger side when closed. I can push it down by hand, but when driving it soon comes up a bit, higher than the fender. I can see where the latch is operated by the cable on the driver side, but can't see anything that would catch the pin in the hole on the passenger side. I can feel there's some sort of spring underneath on the passenger side, but would have to start disassembling stuff to see what's under there. Does the hood latch cable go to both sides and should it also work on the passenger side?
