A new sound! 700 1992

So, the cold weather has arrived and the car has a new sound.
After sitting for an extended period of time, overnight or all day at work, I start the car. Starts fine. If you hit the accelerator there is an audible click from the front of the car. After a few days of this I started paying more attention and it is plainly apparent that when this click occurs the headlights get brighter.
I should mention that after a few minutes you can not duplicate the issue. I am assuming that engine temp has come up a bit and the issue is suppressed.
I have checked the alternator and it is tight. The belt is not loose the alternator is not flopping around.
I cleaned the throttle body as I had been ignoring that for a while and since I was under there I changed the plugs, yup ignored them for a while too.
I don't think any of that will resolve this weird click, which I should say is definitely noticeable (wife notices it, that is saying something :-) )
So it leaves me wondering; are there any substantial relay's or stuff of that nature under the hood I should check for? A greater Volvo knowledge than I suggested a sticking relay. Plausible? If so, locations?
TIA Brickites
