M41 to M46, Gearing Issues? 200

So I installed a B230F/M46 in my '75 244, which was originally equipped with a B20/M41. I drove her on her maiden voyage today since the drivetrain swap and noticed the gearing was really low - first was almost like a granny gear. Were the rearend ratios for these drivetrains different? I do have a rearend from a '85 that had an AW71 - would that be advisable to use instead?
