1978 244 won't start

I was recently having a problem with the vehicle when the fuel level would reach about 1/2 tank. The car would would start to run rough and eventually would not run or start again until more fuel was put into the tank. Within the past year or 2 I have replaced the in tank pump, the 1 inch hose that fits onto the in tank pump, the fuel pump relay, checked fuses, etc. The car would not start after I replaced the 1 inch hose which connects to the in tank pump. It sounds like the pump is working, however, the car doesn't want to start. If you let it sit for an hour or so before trying to start, it sounds promising on that first crank, but then sounds less likely to start after that. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
