no start when hot 300 1990

Fellow 'bricksters', do you have any thoughts on the inability of my well looked after 1990 240GL sedan that sometimes refuses to re-start in hot weather or after a hot run? The engine spins but either no spark or no fuel? Have checked the on board diagnotics but no faults are indicated and in tank pump can be heard whirring smoothly, have not yet done a current draw check on the main pump and the in tank pump. When it does start it runs as always, very smoothly and idles as it should @ about 750rpm. Any comments would be welcomed.Stephen from the Antipodies ie Australia where it can get very hot!
