1 qt oil per 800 miles: 745T 700 1990

I'm a newbie looking at buying a 1990 745T with about 165K miles. In general the car is very, very clean and has had extensive maintenance. The seller was upfront about oil consumption, and says that it burns a quart of oil every 800 miles. A cursory examination of the engine and the underside (in the rain) did not show any evidence of leakage.

I've searched these forums and seen many threads about Turbo high oil consumption, but cannot find actual specs on what is acceptable. On an older car in general, I check oil with each fillup and don't have a problem with 1 qt per 1000.

Overall, I really like the car. Is that consumption at least barely acceptable, or could there be a real problem here? The vehicle does not have current registration so getting a pre purchase inspection is a problem.

Thanks
