Most Years Owned

My father who got me into Volvos just got rid of his '87 244DL with 325K miles because of rust in the underbody (Don't worry he still has 3 other RWD Volvos.) He bought it new in '86 and has been the only owner. I bought an '88 244GL in '92 with 55K for $2500 and I have put over 130K miles on her and only invested additional $1500 to "jack up the horn and replace the whole car just in the last 2 years." I also own 2 other 200 series cars that I split my driving with. I have had other 200 series and either got tired of them or they rusted out too far to pass safety inspection. I will keep the '88 244GL until either I die or some jerk totals it (heaven help him/her!) I see myself driving it for at least another 20 years.

BTW: I picked my niece up from her father's a couple of months ago and he commented to me: "You STILL have that car!!" I haven't seen him in over 5 years. He has known me for almost 18 years and this is the only car he remembers me by. This car is almost my trademark.
