The catalytic converter and the header pipe on my 240 separated. This started as a rumbling and then, like a marriage fight, burst into a full throated roar. This was after weeks of help from my BB brothers who came through like E Company to get the 240 up and running again after an accident. I just passed inspection three days ago too! So, my questions are
1) Can I put the converter and the header pipe back together?
2. What is a floating flange pipe? Is that the bit that goes on the catalytic converter tip that connects to the header pipe? If so, there seems to be no float in the pipe. They are jammed together. There appear to be three bolts under all that rust, but as a bald man I can attest there are several bits of hair under my scalp someplace too, though you'd need a microscope to find them. That said, these screws appear to be headless. They fit no Craftsman wrench in my arsenal. If I have to torch them or drill them out, why was I born? I can't do it. Cancel it. Too hard. Forget it. Ixnay.

Okay, now that hysteria's over. Here's the real question:
4) Do you have to buy both header pipe and catalytic converter to fix this. Is it possible to save one or the other? It appears that the part that has no flange or ring around it is the header pipe. Did a piece break off?
