Driving Light Wiring ( Yeah I know it's not a VOLVO problem , ... but it COULD be)

Love this stuff, eh?
So, the high beams and the DRL's are on at the same time when the switch is ON at the dash? When you say they cycle, does that mean it cycles from HI's and DRL's on, to just highs on?
If you do this in the driveway, do the highs go completely off, or just dim. Is the relay then turning on and off?
A wiring diagram for the Chebby would be handy.
Perhaps there is a light out circuit, which is detecting the extra current draw of the relay? Maybe it uses solid state to switch the lights instead of a relay?
