Simple headlight wiring question

OK, so I wired in new H4 sockets, but the bulbs seem to "bleed" voltage over to the secondary circuit (low beams bleed a little to the high beams and high beams bleed a lot to the low beam side) leaving the high beam indicator on all the time and a very weak and yellow light when the high beams are on. Sounded like a bad ground to me, so I re-wired the ground wire from the sockets with some fresh 12 guage wire straight to their own grounds. Any Ideas??
