Transmission arrow and "W', 'E' and 'S' lights flashing. S90-V90 1997

Hi guys, since my last post, I sold the 92 960 wagon(230K miles) and the 92 960 sedan (125K miles)and purchases a 97 S90 (107K miles). The luxury is great, acceptable gas mileage, wife is happy, etc... The problem is the flashing arrow on the dash, the transmission mode selector buttons flashing and the check engine light is now on. I checked out the FAQ's and determined it must be the gear position sensor, so I replaced it this afternoon ($178.00 at the local dealer)but the arrow and buttons still flash and the check engine light is still on. I thought the flashing lights would go away after the repair, but I would have to have the ECU reset to clear the check engine light. Is this correct and if so, does anyone have any ideas as to why my dash looks like Christmas and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet?
