Blinking Gear Lights 900

Just noticed something odd on the 92 945T. With headlights on, when indicating a right turn or with 4-way flashers on, the gear indicator lights on the console(PRNDL) blink with the turn signals. With left turn signals or no signals, they are dark. WTF?

I was in the console area last winter replacing the heater core but I can't imagine connecting wrong wires.

I am having trouble with the tail/brake lights on the right side and will look into them this weekend.
