Hi everyone. I've been reading the FAQ's, but haven't found an answer. My 89 740 Turbo Wagon has been acting up. The car has been idling fine. If you don't get on it, it will cruise around town fine. Sometimes, when you get on it, it just seems to not want to go like it should. Other times it takes off like there's no issue at all, with all kinds of power. I've replaced all of the large diameter rubber hoses from fcpgroton, along with the 1" diameter hose that goes from the intake hose to the plastic "Y" just above the intake. That made a tremendous improvement, but there's still times when it just doesn't want to boost right. It seems like when the boost gauge gets to the one o'clock position it starts to happen. It doesn't blow any smoke or backfire or anything, it just acts like it can't breathe. Would a plugged cat come and go like that? Where is the test plug located? What kind of tools do I need to take it out? This is my first turbo'd car, so I'm familiar with the names of the components, but not the appearances, or locations. Any help you all can offer would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible that the wastegate is opening too easily? Is there a way to test this? Even then I would need a picture or something of what the wastegate actually looks like. John
