Advice needed: possible starter problem? 700 1991

Hi all,

First of all, the car I have a small problem with is a 1991 745T.

2 times out of 3 especially when the car is outdoors and not in the garage, I get a "click" and a 1 second "dead start" when I turn the key in the ignition, just before it actually starts. Sometimes, it will not start or will start after I keep the key turned deep into position III for 3-4 seconds.

I have checked the battery: it is in perfect health. I have even cleaned the ground wires that go from the battery to engine and starter to engine. No success thus far, the car still does the same thing.

Is it the starter? A possible blackspot in the starter? I am just afraid that, one day, the car will just not start at all.

Any advice or similar experiences welcomed.

Luc
