Timing Belt Adjustment / Deviation. Why ?? 700 1988

Those numbers are for ignition timing which is adjusted on your car by moving the distributor's relationship with the cam; two bolts secure the distributor to the back of the head. Loosening those and moving the distributor will change the time at which the spark is introduced relative to the position of the piston. A timing light (strobe) is used to set the ignition timing. The vibration dampner has a mark on it that is illuminated by the strobe to indicate where the timing is set; those numbers are the scale.

Congratulations on a successful timing belt replacement.
