Clutch Issue Volvo 740 Turbo 700 1986

Hello,

I've been searching the FAQ, but none seem to really address my issue. When driving home last night, I noticed that the clutch and brake pedals suddenly became much harder. Although both still worked, they would only give 2 inches clearance. Today, after checking fluid levels and finding them to be alright, i pumped the brake and the clutch a bit hoping it had just been some small blockage. All the sudden, my clutch pedal has become extremely loose.

In addition, the car can change gears, however the clutch will not release, and therefore it is undriveable.

Any ideas or suggestions?
