Wires from exterior drivers side door lock question 200 1986

This past weekend I replaced both DS & PS front door handles. I lubed up everything while I was in there and now all is good as new. I noticed that on the drivers side key lock looking from the inside, there are about 3 wires attached to the tumbler assy that are starting to look as frayed as my main wiring did before I replaced the gray harness junction on the firewall. I'm afraid that these wires insulation will rot away entirely and short out or the locks switch will fail completly. Any suggestions or repairs that can be made before problems arise? I didn't know there were any wires attached to this part.

Thanks for looking.
