potential (probable) solution 200 1985

my mistake - the cruise cotrol and speedometer do have some reliance on one-another

consulation with wiring diagram (page 138 & 139 of 1981 greenbook wiring diagram) indicates there is a speed pick-up coil within the speedometer (two individual wires exiting to the right of speedo cable input)

the AHA moment comes - speedometer fluctuation sets in and then the cruise acts up as a result

suspect, then, that imminent replacement of speedometer cable will solve this issue

i should fear not the wiring diagram
