Advice needed: possible starter problem? 700 1991

Hello friends,

Just a quick update of my "starter" problem. It appears to have vanished since I did clean the grounds and then readjust the alternator support.

I noticed in the last days the alternator strap to be a bit loose. After putting my hand on the alternator, I also noticed it could be moved a few millimeters up and down. I took a small mirror to see where exactly were the bolts/screws to tighten up the alternator support. Was I surprised to see that the screw had actually broken because of age, rust or engine vibration.

Anyhow, a friend of mine had that screw on an extra alternator and I did the job myself, thus tightening the alternator strap. SInce then, the starter gives me no problem.

I hope that was my problem. Does that make sense to any of you?
